Stonehedge Crazy Yarn - Knit Hats

I love knitting, but don't have nearly as much time for this fabulous hobby as my mom does. So I'll just write about her projects. We were thrilled with the package of hats she mailed us. All four hats were knitted with Stonehedge Crazy Yarn.

Stonehedge Fiber Mill is a small home based business in a small town in upper Michigan. We visited three years ago and were very impressed. The friendly owners gave us a tour of their facility. The home refurbished carding, and spinning machines were fun to watch.

One year we tried cleaning fleece from a neighborhood sheep and found it to be much work. After that experience I quickly understood the service Stonehedge Fiber Mill offers. They have several customers who ship fleece to them which they clean and then ship back. Sometimes, when the fleece is too full of animal waste and natural plant matter they refuse the job. I wonder if they would have cleaned the fleece we had?

Back to the Crazy Yarn. The Stonehedge shop is filled with vibrant colored yarns which they spin themselves. The Crazy Yarn is the remnants of their skeins spun together. Each skein is different. My mom claims that these hats turned out so cute due to the yarn. I think it was a combination of her talent, the crazy yarn and the beautiful models.

  2. Great job on the hats. Since returning to the states I have been using my knitting looms to make neck cowls because I hate scarves and are much easier to wear at least for me:)
