Homeschool Share and Five in a Row

Homeschool Share and Five in a Row

Five in a Row

We used both of these programs when my children were around 5-7 years old. They are both wonderful and I definitely recommend them.

Homeschool Share is wonderful free website similar in many ways to Five in a Row (see Five in a Row description below). Several good books are recommended with corresponding activities and lapbooking ideas. In addition, there are several subjects for unit studies with recommended books.

Five in a Row is an excellent literature based curriculum for young (3-8 years) children. Basically the parent or teacher reads the same story to the child every day for five days in a row. Each day after reading the story a different simple activity relating to writing, math, art or other subject is completed. Each Five in a Row book contains a list of wonderful children’s books and suggests many more than five activities to do relating to each story. This curriculum takes approximately one hour per day to complete and can easily be supplemented with other educational activities. The only issue we had using this program was some of the recommended books are out of print and now very expensive due to the popularity of the program.

  1. Thanks for sharing this at Favorite Resources. I agree that Homeschool Share is a great site, and I've heard very good things about the FIAR program.
