We read lots of book, but we also listen to books and read them electronically. Here are three wonderful websites which contain free stories for kids.
The Baldwin Project
Story Nory is for listening to children’s stories. There are both classic and delightful new stories which can be downloaded to an ipod.
Librivox has an extensive library of audio books in the public domain. The books can be downloaded to an ipod or listened to at the computer. A few selections we have listened to are: Our Island Story by HE Marshall, Beatrix Potter Series, Thornton Burgess Animal Books, The Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling, Fifty Famous Stories Retold by James Baldwin. There are so many more.
The Baldwin Project has an extensive library of written texts in the public domain. Many of the stories available on Librivox are also available on the Baldwin Project and vice versa. Most of the stories on listed on the Baldwin Project can be downloaded to an iPad.
