Over the past few weeks we have been learning to create perspective drawings. I was a bit hesitant in introducing this topic as I wasn't sure how challenging it would be for the kids. It turned out to be a big hit. My 12 year old is thriving with these lessons. My 10 year old said it was the best thing he has learned all year. It's quite a challenge for my 6 year old, but with a little help she is also learning.
It turns out that there are a few tricks to making the perspective look right in the drawings. First, the eyes of all people the same height are located on the horizon line. Second, as the people get closer to the vanishing point they decrease in size.
Drawing a few reference lines makes creating the drawings much easier.

Very cool idea.
