Best Christmas Books for Kids

Each year we read lots of Christmas stories, and last year at Christmas time we read one Christmas picture book per day the entire month of December. Here is a list of wonderful Christmas picture books.

Christmas Tree Farm - This little gem describes the process of raising Christmas trees. It is a year round business.

Where Is Christmas, Jesse Bear? - The Jesse Bear books are all written in prose and perfect for very young children.

Santa Comes to Little House (Little House Picture Book) - With the swollen river Santa Claus can't make it to the Little House, but Mr. Edwards meets him and brings gifts to the girls.

AN Orange for Frankie - This large family looks forward to eating oranges every year for Christmas, but  Frankie is so excited he puts his in his pocket and loses his.
The Little Fir Tree - A lonely little tree becomes a Christmas tree in this delightful children's story.

The Christmas Song: Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire - Doris Barrette created bright, energetic illustrations to accompany this traditional Christmas song.

In A Christmas Spider's Miracle, a poor peasant woman from the Ukraine is thrilled to receive turnip gruel for supper as a gift from her children. She can't afford anything at the Christmas market, but manages to bring home a tree from the forest. The spider in the tree and the mother in the story make a motherly connection.
