Leukemia - Maintenance Week 11 - Foods that Make Hair Grow

What foods make hair grow? That's Jemma's latest question. Her hair is starting to grow back and she wants to help the process as much as she can. We found a list of top 10 foods that make hair grow:

Salmon
Walnuts
Oysters
Sweet Potatoes
Eggs
Spinach
Lentils
Greek Yogurt
Blueberries
Poultry

Now she's requesting sweet potatoes and lentils.

Sickness was again in the house this week, and this time, despite the constant cleaning and quarantining, Jemma caught the bug. Every two days this week a new child was sick with a low fever and runny nose which turned to coughing. On Thursday Jemma's leukocytes were at 2,200 which gave her body some ability to fight the illness.

When her body temperature rose above 101 degrees she was given acetaminophen, then when the fever returned she began oral antibiotics and stopped chemotherapy. Luckily we had some at home from a previous fever. This illness seemed to be fairly mild and all three kids had low energy, but didn't feel too terrible. It's not completely gone, but surprisingly, Jemma has had the mildest symptoms of the three. My guess is that the antibiotics helped a lot.

  1. Sorry to hear your guys have been sick, but good that Jemma didn't suffer with it too badly.
I love that you researched food that makes hair grow. Perfect link-in with your human body studies! Sweet potatoes and lentils sound yummy - good choice, Jemma :-)
