Church of Saint Fermo

St. Fermo Church located in Verona, Italy on the Adige River. It was built in the Romanesque style by Benedictine monks during the 12th century.

Upon entering this church I was struck by how different it felt from the German churches I have been visiting. The wooden ceiling was very interesting. It was built to look like the bottom of a ship.

The walls were full of frescos. Unfortunately, many of them in conditions of deterioration.

The raised ceilings above the chapels were all decorated with frescos.
