Pom-Pom Ladybug

This week when the art teacher visited the hospital the kids made pom-pom creatures. My daughter made a ladybug. I thought this was a really neat craft because the kids got to make their own pom-poms.

They started with two doughnut shaped pieces of cardboard held together. Yarn was held in place with the fingers and then wrapped around the cardboard until there was a lot of yarn.

Next, scissors were weged in between the two pieces of cardboard so the yarn could be cut all the way around the circle.
Before removing the cardboard another piece of yarn was wrapped around the yarn inside the cardboard and tied into a knot. This was a very important step because it held the pom-pom together.

After that six legs were tied on to the pom-pom and eyes were added to make it into a ladybug. Perhaps she will add antennae in the future.
