Idar-Oberstein

Idar-Oberstein is a precious gem mining town near Ramstein Germany. Spending a day in Idar-Oberstein visitors can see the gem museum, gemstone mine, Church in the rock, hike-up to the castle and do some shopping in the village.
I find this church absolutely incredible. It is built right into the side of the mountain. Behind the church in the upper-left of the photo is the castle ruins.

Is this house a bit crooked, or is it just me? Now I can understand the nursery rhyme.

There was a crooked man, and he walked a crooked mile.
He found a crooked sixpence against a crooked stile.
He bought a crooked cat, which caught a crooked mouse,
And they all lived together in a little crooked house.

This is the perfect town to visit if you need or want some gemstone jewelry.
