Palais Rohan

Before moving to Europe I did not understand the difference between a palace and a castle. Now that I am here I see they are very different. Castles date to medieval times (13th thru 16th centuries) and most of them are in ruin condition. Palaces, on the other hand, are much more modern. They date to the 18th and 19th centuries, are better preserved and lavishly decorated.
Palais Rohan is located on the River Ill in Strasbourg, France. It was built between 1731 and 1742.

The rooms contain crystal chandeliers, exquisite art work, perfect furniture and beautiful wood floors.

This room had book shelves all around. I though it would make a wonderful school room.
