Mittenwald is a small town located in Bavaria near Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
The houses in this area of Germany look different than in other parts of Germany. They have shutters and much more exterior wood work.
Many of the houses and buildings are hand painted.
Mittenwald is nestled in the mountains and they offer skiing.

They actually measure the wood before cutting it. That is why it is stacked so beautifully.

Mittenwald is famous for its long history of making violins.
