Leaning Tower of Pisa

The leaning tower of Pisa is located in the Piazza dei Miracoli in Pisa, Italy. It took 177 years to build and leans about 4 degrees. The tilt is due to the ground settling under the tower. All of the buildings in the Piazza are white and elaborately decorated.

  1. Beautiful pictures! And thanks for all the neat information on the Tower of Pisa. I've always wondered as to whether or not it tilted enough to make it unsafe, or is it structurally sound still? For people to go in and out of I mean?

  2. Oh yes it is safe to climb. It used to lean about 5.5 degrees and was then restored about 10 years ago and now leans only 4 degrees. I would guess that structural stability is something that is monitored.
