Stinging Nettle

There isn't poison ivy in Germany, but there is stinging nettle. If you touch this plant you will get a small blister that stings really bad for about 15 minutes and is bothersome for the entire day. Other than the pain I think it is harmless. One time my youngest child squatted outside to go pee in a patch of stinging nettle. She had about 10 little blisters. Poor thing.

  1. They have these plants in Australia as well only the leaves are much bigger and I am told the "stingers" can be irritating for years afterwards. They usually use duct-tape to get them out.
